JIMMY CHOUX X DIVA VON TESSA COLT – SPIEL
OUR MOST EXCITING OFFER YET – CLOSELY RELATED TO BLACK CAVIAR and ALL TOO HARD!!
What more needs to be said?! This cracking colt has it all. He has the looks, the action, the attitude and of course the pedigree.
Just have a look at him. He is a well-built, muscled up colt with a strong shoulder on him and a very powerful hind-quarter to match, which is where all the power is generated from.
He is by the very exciting young stallion JIMMY CHOUX who was not only a champion racehorse of his time but is already stamping himself as a champion stallion.
The Sire
JIMMY CHOUX won an astonishing five Group 1 races and was crowned New Zealand 'HORSE OF THE YEAR' & CHAMPION AUSTRALASIAN THREE-YEAR-OLD for the 2010/11 season.
A Group 2 winner and twice Group 1 placed as a two-year-old, Jimmy Choux's 2010-2011 season was among the most successful by a New Zealand three-year-old in recent history. As well as capturing the country's two biggest three-year-old races, the 2000 Guineas and the Derby, Jimmy Choux easily won the Hawke's Bay Guineas, Great Northern Guineas, Wellington Stakes and Waikato Guineas.
Jimmy Choux then travelled to Australia where his first start resulted in a Group 1 victory in the Rosehill Guineas, confirming his status as one of Australasia's best three-year-olds.
Jimmy Choux resumed as a four-year-old, with a second placing in the Challenge Stakes at Hastings. He then won the Windsor Park Plate and the Spring Classic, his fourth and fifth Group 1 wins, confirming his status as one of the favourites for the Cox Plate.
Jimmy Choux started second favourite in the 2011 Cox Plate. He sat just off the pace and gained a clear lead around the final turn, before being run down late by Pinker Pinker to finish second. During his racing career, he managed to earn a whopping $3.6 million in stakes prize money.
Retired to stud in 2012, Jimmy Choux was crowned New Zealand’s CHAMPION FIRST SEASON SIRE of 2015/16.
The Dam
This colt is out of the Testa Rossa mare Diva von Tessa who was a winner over 1200m. This is her second foal. Her fist foal (also by Jimmy Choux) named Cosmo Peridot has had one start in Japan as a 2yo (classed as a 3yo in Japan) over 1600m finishing a close 4th beaten 1 ½ lengths on the 22nd January 2017.
Diva von Tessa is out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Baltics who is the half-sister to Group 1 winner Magnus, Group 2 winners Scandiva & Wilander, Listed winner Arctic Flight and the great mare Helsinge, dam of Black Caviar and All Too Hard.
Black Caviar was the undisputed, World Champion Sprinter of her time and won an unbelievable 25 race from 25 starts, including 15 races at Group 1 level.
The Trainer
This colt will be trained by Import Racing’s exclusive Gr.1 winning trainer TIM MARTIN out of his Rosehill stables. Tim has trained multiple stakes winners over the years including Gr.1 winners EXCEED AND EXCEL, TYPHOON ZED and REDOUTE’S DANCER, and the recently Gr.1 placed HEAVEN’S ABOVE. He is also the trainer of our very own multiple city winner KING DARCI.
Tim commented, “This colt oozes class. I really like the way he moves. He is a correct, well balanced, speedy looking individual with a pedigree to back it up. Being by a serious athlete and leading sire 2015-2016 in New Zealand, in Jimmy Choux and closely related to Black Caviar and All Too Hard, he has everything you need to make it as a racehorse. We can’t wait to get him across to Australia and into the stables” TM
Tim’s natural horseman skills are second to none and the results are clearly evident in his winners and impressive strike rate.
From the Director
What an awesome colt on offer to start the year with. As soon as I saw him, I just knew I had to have him and I am sure you feel the same way too.
He is just an outstanding horse. He is very well balanced and has such a fluent action when he walks.
He is a solidly built colt with all the right angles I like to see in a horse. He is big, strong and very correct in his conformation. Just look at the hindquarter on him and you can see that he is a very powerful animal.
I inspected him on 3 different occasions before purchasing him and he never put a foot wrong. He has such a sweet disposition which was even mentioned by the farm manager where he is currently spelling.
And what a family to buy into! The royal bloodlines of the Queen of the Turf, Black Caviar.
I am inviting you to join Import Racing and Tim Martin to race this colt in the hope of Group 1 success!
