Since taking out his license in 1991, Mick Price has firmly established himself as one of the leading racehorse trainers in Australia.
Some of the stakes performed horses to be trained by Mick include Heart Of Dreams, Gallica, Alamosa, Light Fantastic, Rubiscent, Bel Mer, Velocitea, Shinzig, Pompeii Ruler, Rustic Dream, Slavonic, Vocabulary, Kempinsky, French Bid, Halibery, Intelligent Star, Mr Trickster, World Peace, Kylikwong, Tanith, Chattanooga, Amtrak, Red Dazzler, Pure Harmony, Doubting, La Bella Dame etc.
In 2003 Mick trained the trifecta in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview with Halibery, Gaelic Princess and Roedean, while World Peace took out the race for the stable in 2004.
Mick kept his fantastic record with two-year-olds intact by winning both the colts and fillies divisions of the Blue Diamond Preludes in 2005 with Perfectly Ready and Doubting.
In 2007 he continued his stakes winning trend by taking out the Group 1 Underwood Stakes with Rubiscent, the Group 2 Sandown Guineas with Schilling and the Group 3 Sandown Stakes with Gotta Have Heart, just to name a few.
Mick has also tasted success in the Futurity Stakes (G1), Railway Stakes (G1), Goodwood Handicap (G1), Toorak Handicap (G1), Norman Carlyon Stakes (G2), Angus Armanasco Stakes (G2), AAMI Vase (G2), Swettenham Stud Stakes (G2), Bill Stutt Stakes (G2), Moonee Valley Cup (G2), Woodstock Stakes (G2), Kewney Stakes (G2), Yallambee Stud Stakes (G2), JJ Liston Stakes (G2), Craiglee Stakes (G2) and been placed in the Caulfield Guineas (G1), Yalumba Stakes (G1), 1000 Guineas (G1), Victoria Derby (G1), VRC Oaks (G1), Blue Diamond Stakes (G1), Manikato Stakes (G1) and C. F. Orr Stakes (G1) among others.
In 2008/2009 the season started off in terrific style with Light Fantastic winning the Group 2 JJ Liston Stakes. The South Yarra Stakes Group 3 was won by Vivacious Spirit. Group 1 New Zealander Alamosa won the Group 1 Toorak Hcp and Damselfly won the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club. In total, Mick won six Group 1 races, five Group 2 events, five Group 3 events and six Listed races for the season among his massive total of 124 winners for the racing year.
The 2009/2010 season saw Mick train his 16th Group 1 winner with Velocitea taking out the Goodwood Handicap.
Black Type success in the season of 2010/2011 came when Heart Of Dreams won the Group Two St George Stakes followed by Nakaaya winning the Group Two Sunline Stakes. With the highlight of this season being back to back wins with Aloha winning the Group Three PFD Food Services Stakes followed by the Group One Coolmore Classic at Rosehill.
Group One Blue Diamond success was around the corner in 2011/2012 when a smart filly called Samaready came out and won the Group Three Blue Diamond Preview. The filly then backed up and smashed her rivals in the Group One 2012 Blue Diamond. The More Than Ready filly then went on to complete a winning hat trick taking out the Group Two Reisling Stakes at Rosehill. Other Stakes success throughout this season included multiple wins to Instinction and Malasun.
Callanish provided Mick with seven wins all back to back in the season of 2012/2013, the Fastnet Rock gelding finished his winning streak taking out the Listed race of the Darley Seymour Cup. Other Black Type winners throughout this season include Eximius winning the Sunshine Coast Guineas & the Hilton Hotel Stakes, General Peekay in the SAJC Adelaide Guineas, Dany The Fox saluting in the Sportingbet Kilmore Cup. Loveyamadly, Al Aneed and Instinction also provided Mick with great success throughout the season.
In the season of 2013/2014 Lankan Rupee was the star of the stable. He had a stellar season winning the Group Three Heffernan Stakes, the Group Two Rubiton Stakes, the Group One Oakleigh Plate, the Group One Newmarket and the Group One TJ Smith Stakes. Samaready also did her job again representing the stable winning the Group One Moir Stakes, and she went on to place 3rd in the Group One Lightning Stakes. She retired from racing having had only 13 starts with prize money of just under $1.7million.
In 2014/2015 Lankan Rupee again ran well placing 3rd in both the Group Two Schillaci Stakes and the Caulfield Spring Stakes.
